Current Vacancies

Ranger 

Full Time (37 hours per week), Salary £20-24,000 (dependent on experience) 

Are you interested in finding creative and sustainable ways to manage and maintain the city’s much loved green spaces? Do you have a keen eye for detail and a love of green spaces? 

We’re looking for proactive and motivated Rangers who can work in innovative ways to manage the city’s parks for visitors as well as protecting and enhancing their biodiversity and individual character. 

As a Ranger you’ll have a shared responsibility for a number of parks within city, to ensure that they are maintained to a high standard and remain safe and welcoming spaces for everyone to enjoy. You will regularly engage with the stakeholders for the parks you work in, including local councillors and Friends of Groups, as well as leading volunteering sessions and work placements. 

This post is based at our Heaton Park office in Newcastle but will involve working across all Urban Green sites. Therefore, you will need to hold a full UK driver’s license to be eligible for this role. 

Closing date: Wednesday 15 March 2023 at midnight. 

Interviews: Will be held over 2 dates, a one-day practical assessment (any tools will be provided) will be held on 21 March in Newcastle, at a city centre park. If selected to go forwards, you will then be offered a one-hour Teams interview on either 23 or 27 March 2023.

Community Gardener 

Full Time (37 hours per week), Salary £20-24,000 (dependent on experience) 

Do you have a passion for planting? Are you looking to get your hands dirty and make a difference in the city’s parks and green spaces? Then we want to hear from you!   

We’re looking for Community Gardeners who share our love of the outdoors, gardening and nature and are enthusiastic about sharing that passion with other people. 

As a Community Gardener you’ll be a key part of ensuring the city’s parks are well presented and reflect their unique character, status and story. You’ll also be actively involved in recruiting, supporting and empowering our volunteers, groups and community partners, helping to foster positive and mutually beneficial relationships. There will also be a chance to connect with the parks visitors through developing and leading a range of events and activities to build their connection and commitment to the city’s green spaces.
