Urban Green Newcastle is a pioneering charity set up in 2019 to look after the city’s parks and allotments. Our vision is for more people to enjoy and benefit from the beautiful open spaces in the city, and to ensure they are safe, welcoming and provide a great environment for wildlife and people which is valued by all.

Events Coordinator (Maternity Cover)

Project Manager  – Species Survival Fund
£30,000 – £34,000 per annum
Fixed Term (June 2024 – 27 February 2026). Secondments will be considered.

The Project Manager will oversee the development and manage the delivery of the Newcastle’s Nature Networks project, acting as the key point of liaison for partner organisations, and ensuring that the approved purposes of the Species Survival Fund grant are met within the timeframe.

With a sound ecological knowledge, and understanding of restoring sites for habitats and species, the postholder will be equally passionate about nature recovery, and sharing its importance with people and communities in urban areas. With the ability to draw together a multi-disciplinary team across multiple partners, the Project Manager will ensure that everyone involved in delivery is motivated, well informed, and that proper provision is in place to deliver success on time and to budget.

This project is funded by the Government’s Species Survival Fund. The fund was developed by Defra and its Arm’s-Length Bodies. It is being delivered by The National Lottery Heritage Fund in partnership with Natural England and the Environment Agency.

Events Co-ordinator – Maternity Cover
£23,088 per annum, pro rata
Part-Time (22hrs per week), Fixed Term (Start July 2024 – 12 months)

The Events Co-ordinator is responsible for managing and administering events from initial enquiry, to onsite delivery and post-event evaluation.

The vision in our Events Strategy is to host and support a varied and inclusive programme of events and activities throughout Newcastle’s green spaces that will attract local, national and international visitors, bring local communities together and generate income to re-invest into the city’s parks and allotments.

Business Manager – The Urban Green Cafes

We’re looking for someone to join the team to be responsible for the management and development of the growing food and beverage offer, including cafes, mobile pod, and outside catering. To establish efficient operations, maximise profit and lead the food and beverage team in delivering an excellent customer experience.

We’re also looking for someone who can an excellent experience for all café customers. Deliver food and drink service efficiently and professionally within a busy environment.

The role involves the preparation and serving of hot and cold drinks, snacks, ice cream and light meals, taking customer orders, handling money, and ensuring the Urban Green Cafe is a clean, friendly and welcoming environment for all.
