Urban Green Connect

Are you passionate about your local parks and green spaces? Do you want to see them loved and used by local communities?  Do you have great ideas on how this could happen? Then we would love to hear from you!

Urban Green Connect is a group of passionate and committed people, who meet quarterly to support and advise the organisation on how it can most effectively reach out to local communities, and make sure that parks and allotments are used and enjoyed by as many people as possible. We’re always open to hearing from people who are interested in joining the conversation.

Gina Tiller, one of our Trustees and Chair of Urban Green Connect, is encouraging people to join the panel and help reflect the amazing diversity of the city: “Anyone can apply to join our community panel. We are looking for people brimming with ideas and enthusiasm, to help us reach a far wider audience.

“We are particularly interested in hearing from those who are not currently using the city’s green spaces, or feel that they offer little for them, so that we can understand what we can do differently. The panel has already demonstrated its value in helping Urban Green Newcastle reach a wider audience, and we want this to continue so that we can become even more inclusive.”

Chief Executive, Carol Pyrah, explained the importance of involving local people: “Urban Green Newcastle is committed to providing wonderful green spaces around the city for communities and to improve the environment. But we can’t do this alone, or in isolation. The city’s parks and allotments will only improve if we involve people, listen to their views and work collaboratively and in partnership.”

Urban Green Connect meets approximately four times a year and we ask that members commit to attending the majority of meetings. While voluntary, participants will receive expenses for travelling to and from meetings as necessary, and any specialist support will be provided.

We are always keen to hear from as many people as possible and keep the application process accessible. If there are any reasonable adjustments that we can make to enable you to apply then please get in touch with us at info@urbangreennewcastle.org
