Explore and enjoy urban wildflowers in Leazes Park and around Newcastle City Centre. Part of Gosforth’s Wild Web.

Weeds, wildflowers, whatever you call them, our urban plants are a fascinating bunch. Adapted to life on our pavements, walls, and roadsides, it is amazing how many species you can find out there in the urban jungle.

Perfect for beginners, this new series of walks with botanist, James Common, will explore the fascinating plants with which we share our city. Together, we’ll learn to recognise common and familiar species while appreciating the beauty of the hardy plants that bloom in cracks and crevices across the city.

This event will include a walk in Urban Green Newcastle’s Leazes Park followed by a short trip to nearby urban habitats.

Questions (and identification queries) are welcome at any time by emailing james.common@newcastle.ac.uk.
