Urban Green Newcastle could not function as we do without our wonderful volunteer team, who help us to make their parks and greenspaces the best they can be for both people and wildlife to enjoy.

You don’t need any particular skills or experience to be an Urban Green volunteer. All you need is enthusiasm for the task in hand!

There is a volunteering role for everyone. Check out the opportunities available below.

Community Gardening sessions

Join our Community Gardeners and fellow volunteers in undertaking a range of horticulture tasks, from planting up flower beds to propagating new plants. Group sessions are held regularly across your local parks. No previous experience is required, but a willingness to get stuck in and work as part of a team is essential.

Roving Rangers

Join our Park Rangers and Community Gardeners in undertaking a range of habitat management, conservation and park improvement tasks. Meeting on a morning at our Heaton depot, you are assigned a Ranger or Community Gardener who will take you out for the full day, whilst getting the opportunity to explore the vast range of parks and countryside spaces under Urban Green Newcastle’s management.
