Keep on running...

Newcastle Parkrun - credit Maggie Davison

Newcastle’s parks and green spaces are the perfect place to keep fit. Stunning surroundings, no traffic and a mix of terrain to really push you to your limits. But you don’t need to do it alone. If you’re lacking motivation over the winter months, why not join a Newcastle parkrun?

It’s a 5km run, just you against the clock and everyone is welcome. It’s free to take part, all you need to do is register before your first run and bring along a printed copy of your barcode, otherwise you won’t get a time (but you can still take part!).

The first parkrun started in Exhibition Park and attracts around 400 runners every week. Due to popular demand, additional parkruns now take place in Leazes Park and Jesmond Dene.

The runs take place EVERY SATURDAY at 9am. What are you waiting for? Grab your trainers and get out and give it a try. Parkruns are run entirely by volunteers. If you want to get involved, head to the parkrun volunteers page.
