In memory of our beloved Bambi

Bambi
It’s with great sadness that we announce the passing of our much-loved Anglo-Nubian Goat, Bambi.

A long standing resident and part of the Pets’ Corner family for many years, Bambi will be sorely missed by everyone at Urban Green Newcastle, The Friends of Jesmond Dene, our volunteers and members of the public.

Despite his young age, he was diagnosed with arthritis in both back legs in early 2019. He managed well until a fall in December required treatment from a vet. It was our hope to retire Bambi but sadly over the Christmas period his condition did not improve and staff made the heart-breaking decision to have him put to sleep for his own welfare.

Bambi was a larger than life character both in size as well as personality and could often be seen scaling trees and fence lines for brows. He would also rub himself against enclosure fences so very small children and their parents could lean over to stroke him.

He will be greatly missed by everyone that cared for and looked after him, especially the farm team staff and many volunteers who worked closely with him over the years at Pets’ Corner.

All the staff at Urban Green Newcastle would like to thank the farm vets for their support and assistance in caring for Bambi.

If you have any memories of meeting Bambi, or pictures/video of him at Pets’ Corner, we’d love it if you would share them on social media. You can find us on Facebook at facebook.com/urbangreenncl or on Twitter at twitter.com/urbangreenncl.

Thank you for all the kind words we continue to receive.
