Notice of Works: Leazes Park from 19.04.22

The lake in Leazes Park is one of its central features and was originally intended for ice-skating and boating. As part of our ongoing maintenance programme, we have identified refurbishment works which need to be carried out to the edge of the lake to restore it to it’s former glory.

We are pleased to let you know that these works are due to commence next Tuesday (19 April) with clearance of vegetation to the edge of the lake followed by repairs to the cobble setts which surround the lake. These works form part of a phased programme of repairs and will deal with the initial patch repairs to the cobble setts and re-pointing to the cobbles near the jetty.

Work is likely to last for four weeks, with minimal disruption to park users and access to the lake will be maintained throughout the works.

Alongside reducing the impact for our park users, we have also taken steps to ensure that there is minimal impact and disturbance to wildlife, including eliminating the use of chemical pesticides in the area.

If you have any questions about these works please feel free to get in touch with us at info@urbangreennewcastle.org
