Overview
There is still a gravel running track on the park, and it was part of Cllr T. Dan Smiths’ plans to build a proper stadium on the site to host the 1966 Empire Games. The plans never materialised but the name stuck.
City Stadium is a popular park for running and sports activities today. There is a good network of paths and is well connected to the Ouseburn Valley and variety of places to eat and things to do.
Did you know...?
The River Ouseburn is culverted beneath the park and marked by a monument close to Warwick Street.
